Our Initiatives

Chicago Ismaili Center

Chicago, USA, 2025: YFEA was fortunate to host a bootcamp for students at the Chicago Ismaili Center, a community center in Illinois, USA, that hosts South Asian immigrants and Central Asian refugees. Aiming to empower students holistically, our instructors helped them improve their public speaking and leadership skills by practicing elevator pitches and modeling community service projects. Motivated to further their impact, the students created business proposals designed to support other community members and practiced their new skills by presenting these ideas to their peers and families. By the end of the bootcamp, the students were more confident speaking with strangers and addressing large audiences. They also felt more innovative and passionate about continuing to find ways to support their local community.

Madrasatul Ia’natit Twaalibiina

Kenya, 2025: YFEA partnered with a madrasa in Kenya to promote language exchange and encourage the creative expression of self-identity and innovation. To begin, our instructors prioritized teaching lessons in English, so all instructional activities began by reading English books and translating Swahili and Arabic words. As students began brainstorming business ideas, they turned to books. Since reading was a pillar of our partnership, the students took the initiative to create their own book in all three languages–English, Swahili, and Arabic–to foster ongoing language exchange beyond our encounter. Furthermore, our instructors ensured that students could express their identities through creative outlets such as painting murals, helping them develop skills that would benefit them in the future. By focusing on the students’ needs, we empowered them to explore creative pursuits while strengthening multilingual communication within the madrasa and their broader communities.

Ida Rieu School

Karachi, Pakistan, 2024: YFEA had the privilege of teaching entrepreneurship, budgeting, and investing to students at Ida Rieu, a school in Pakistan for blind and deaf individuals. Through tailored lessons and accessible teaching methods, our instructors guided students in understanding the key components of a sales pitch, the importance of conducting a SWOT analysis, the differences between certain types of expenses, and core elements of investing. Persevering through communication barriers, students were able to develop and present their business idea to a large audience, showcasing their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
